Nearly Half of New Hampshire’s Eighth Graders Reached NAEP Proficient in Math in 2013. In 2024, About a Third Did.

On the Nation’s Report Card, the share of New Hampshire public-school eighth graders at NAEP Proficient in math fell from 46.8 percent in 2013 to 32.0 percent in 2024. The slide showed up in all four reading and math tests, began before 2019, and left the state still above the national average.
